Nora Aunor Wins Best Actress at the Sakhalin International Film Festival in Russia for “Thy Womb”

MANILA, PhilippinesFilipina, multi-awarded Superstar, Nora Aunor, has won the Best Actress award at the Sakhalin International Film Festival in Russia, for the film, “Thy Womb”. This was reported by local entertainment sites on Friday, August 30, 2013.

The Sakhalin International Film Festival is an annual event where entries from 50 different countries are screened for those who are deserving of the recognition given by a qualified panel.

The Best Actress Award is the 9th recognition that the Superstar has received for the acclaimed movie, “Thy Womb.”

The other contenders in the Sakhalin International Film Festival in Russia were the following:

• “The Geographer Drank His Globe Away” of Russia directed by Alexander Veledinsky
• “Harmony Lessons” of Kazakhstan-Germany and France, directed by Emir Baigazin
• “A Long and Happy Life” of Russia, directed by Boris Khlebnikov
• “Pipeline” of Russia-Czech Republic and Germany, directed by Vitali Mansky
• “Capturing Dad” of Japan, directed by Ryota Nakano
• “With You, Without You” by Sri Lanka-India, directed by Prasanna Vithanage
• “Nobody’s Daughter Haewon” by South Korea, directed by Hong Sang-soo
• “Karaoke Girl” by Thailand and the USA, directed by Visra Vichit Vadakan

Brillante Mendoza directed the film, where Nora Aunor played a midwife in Southern Philippines.

The distinguished jury included:

•    Russian director Pavel Chukhray – Chairman
•    Russian actress Victoria Tolstoganova
•    Japanese producer Jiro Shindo
•    Chinese actor -screenwriter Jia Zhangke
•    Russian Director and actor Yevgeni Grishkovets

Ms. Nora Aunor has proven again that after more than 4 decades, she is still the one and only Superstar of Philippine entertainment.
