MANILA, Philippines – PAGASA’s Updates on Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) as of Friday, November 8, 2013, 2:00 am, discloses the archipelago to be under storm signals of varying intensity. For Luzon, Pampanga, Camarines Norte, Zambales, Bulacan, Polilio Island, rest of Quezon, and the rest of Northern Palawan including Puerto Princesa are under signal no. 1 (PSWS #1.)
Signal no. 4 PSWS #4 is issued for Luzon over Romblon, Masbate including Ticao Island and Southern Sorsogon. These areas would experience winds of more than 185 kph, expected in at least 12 hours.
Signal no. 3 (PSWS #3) is issued for Luzon over Albay, Sorsogon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro together with the Calamian Group of Islands, Burias Island and Marinduque.
Signal no. 2 (PSWS # 2) for Luzon, includes Batangas, Bataan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Catanduanes, Southern Quezon, Laguna, Northern Palawan, Camarines Sur and Lubang Islands.
According to PAGASA:
“The eye of Typhoon “YOLANDA” was located at 135 km Southeast Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.6°N, 126.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 225 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 260 kph.”

TYPHOON “YOLANDA” CONTINUES TO MOVE CLOSER AND POSES THREAT TO EASTERN VISAYAS.
Location of eye/center: At 1:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “YOLANDA” was located based on all available data including Guiuan Radar at 170 km Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.5°N, 127.2°E).
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 225 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 260 kph.
Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 39 kph.
Forecast Position: Typhoon “YOLANDA” is expected to make landfall this morning (5 am) over Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It will be at 170 km West Northwest of Coron, Palawan by tomorrow evening. By Saturday morning, it will be at 665 km West Northwest of Coron, Palawan or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
