Johnny Keyser was eliminated, together with 4 other boys, on American Idol 2013 Sudden Death performances aired February 21, 2013.
Many people were shocked of Johnny’s elimination, including American Idol 2012 7th place, Colton Dixon, who expressed his stupefaction over Twitter, and co-contestant, Bryant Tadeo.

The 10 boys who performed were Johnny Keyser, Curtis Finch, Jr., Elijah Liu, Paul Jolley, J’DA, Jimmy Smith, Kevin Harris, Devin Velez, Chris Watson, and Charlie Askew.
The 5 eliminated American Idol 2013 contestants were Johnny Keyser, Jimmy Smith, Chris Watson, J’DA and Kevin Harris.
The 5 contestants who made it to Top 20 are Devin Velez, Curtis Finch Jr., Paul Jolley, Charlie Askew and Elijah Liu.
Including the 5 girls selected earlier, there are now 10 contestants for the Top 20 group, another 10 more contestants would be picked on Wednesday, February 27, and Thursday, February 28, 2013.
Early favorite, Charlie Askew, sang “Rocket Man” by Elton John, and Curtis Finch, Jr. belted “Superstar” by Luther Vandross. Returning contestant, Johnny Keyser, was not able to sufficiently impress the judges, with his version of “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Marz.
Although Johnny was eliminated, as his song says, ‘he won’t give up.” He already recorded a 7-track EP that reached no. 44 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Charts, making history as the first American Idol contestant with a completed album in the same year that he competed.
Right after Johnny Keyser‘s elimination from American Idol, he tweeted:
“So i just got asked to sing the national anthem for the Miami Heat on March 1st!!!”
Break a leg, Johnny. For sure, Jonny Keyser would do more songs and albums to share with his fans and the music industry outside of the American Idol stage.
