The Top 5 Miss Universe Contestants were:
1. Miss Venezuela – 2nd Runner up
2. Miss Philippines – 1st Runner up
3. Miss USA – Miss Universe
4. Miss Australia – 3rd Runner up
5. Miss Brazil – 4th Runner up
Miss Philippines, Janine Marie Tugonon, is 23 years old and has graduated Cum Laude in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Previous winners from the Philippines were Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973).

“Do you believe that speaking English should be a pre-requisite to be in Miss Universe 2012?”
Janine‘s outstanding answer:
“Whatever language you speak as long as you have the heart to serve and a strong mind, you can be Miss Universe. “
The five Miss Universe 2012 beauties have been early favorites during the course of the competition, and have scored well in the National Costume, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown competition.
Miss Kosovo won Miss Photogenic, while Miss Guatemala won Miss Congeniality.
Miss Universe 2011, Miss Leila Lopes, did her customary farewell walk before she crowned Miss USA.
