Nigel Lythgoe, American Idol executive producer, has revealed the theme for Top 2 American Idol Finalists on May 22, 2012.
The remaining contestants are who will compete for the American Idol season 11 title are Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips.
Nigel tweeted that theme would be:
- Their favorite song of the series
- A song chosen by Simon Fuller
- Their individual new single
Based on these themes, here are song suggestions for the Top 2 American Idol 2012 finalists. Remember that these are only song suggestions, so they may not be selected by the Top 2 finalists.
Phillip Phillips
- Their favorite song of the series – “Volcano,” by Damien Rice, Phillip sang this amazingly
- A song chosen by Simon Fuller– “Alone Again Naturally” by Gilbert O’Sullivan
- Their individual new single- it would be great if Phil Phillips has a new song like “Volcano,” or “We’ve Got Tonight”.
Jessica Sanchez
- Their favorite song of the series – “Everybody Has a Dream” by Billy Joel, Jessica gave a new “soul” to the song
- A song chosen by Simon Fuller- “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion
- Their individual new single- A Whitney Houston-like song
