MANILA, Philippines – Richard “Dick” Gordon is No. 13 via COMELEC Official Count, as of 8:30 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Dick Gordon has been the proponent of Olongapo City’s prosperity and development when he was mayor of the city and chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority . In 1983, during his term in office, Olongapo City was recognized as a “Model City” in the Philippines.
Gordon was appointed as the secretary of the Department of Tourism and had successfully enhanced the tourists’ spots in the country with his “Wow Philippines” slogan. He acted also as the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross.
He deserves a seat among the Magic 12 of the senate. Many are crossing their fingers until all of the votes come in.
Dick Gordon was not among the senators though who were proclaimed by COMELEC Chairman Brillantes. Only the Top 6 senators were proclaimed. They were (in no particular order) senators Grace Poe, Sonny Angara, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Nancy Binay and Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero.
Chiz Escudero was with girlfriend, movie actress, Heart Evangelista, who was obviously ecstatic with the victory of the person, whom she had defended against detractors.
The rest of the winning senatorial candidates would be proclaimed as soon as the official canvassing is done by COMELEC.
Hopefully, the action man, Dick Gordon, would be able to enter the Magic 12; there is still hope for the Filipino people, and he would soon be in.
