MANILA, Philippines – The Victory Bus Liner has announced that its last trip on December 31, 2012 is at 6 p.m. The company further tweeted:
“We don’t want our buses to be caught in the middle of firecracker frenzy.”
The New Year’s Eve Celebration in the Philippines has always been greeted with firecrackers and loud sounds because folks believed that these would drive bad luck and bad spirits away.
Local news reported that firecracker-related casualties have reached 454 to date, and more are expected on New Year’s Eve.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reportedly seized various prohibited firecrackers, but more are still out there sitting in somebody’s warehouse.
