It was BTS Suga’s first concert as a solo artist after all.
So, together with my ARMY granddaughter, we donned our “concert” outfits and made the short jeepney trip to the SM cinema in our city.
We decided to watch the 6:30 pm show because the first screening was ongoing.
I noticed that there were more mature ARMY attending the concert compared to the audience of the first all-BTS members Busan concert that I previously attended.
But before we went out for some pizza, my granddaughter took photos of the BTS stand-ins.
It was my first time watching through IMAX and I was so thrilled to do so. We had a seat at the center of the theater and my pulse raced as I made myself comfortable in the seemingly serene set-up.
There were ARMY giving out feebies (as usual) and I got one. Thank you Hiyas.
When the incoming images of Suga flashed on the screen, I clapped so hard that my palms stung, but I continued clapping after every song – nevertheless.
I was stunned by Suga’s sincere and powerful performances. He was baring his soul and mind right before ARMY; expressing his angst, happiness, and passion for music.
As he stated: he wants a concert where everyone can dance, sing, or do everything they want to enjoy his performances.
The large screen, the booming speakers, and the fan chants created an incredible IMAX experience for me.
My head and feet moved voluntarily to the rhythm of People Pt.2, Daechwita, Seesaw, and many more good songs that I have watched him perform via YouTube only.
I thought, “This artist can compose his songs, dance, rap, sing, play the guitar, and play the piano.”
He is indeed a genius!
Suga is KING!
When Jungkook, RM, and Jimin joined him on stage, I was clapping so hard, that the gentleman below me laughed and spared a side glance at me.
Well, I didn’t care a bit. Perhaps, he had never seen an old woman so zealous about BTS.
Surprise, here I am!
Time flew by and the ending credits started to roll.
I didn’t want to leave.
A young ARMY beside me giggled when I said: “What? it’s over? It’s too short. I want more!”
Some of the older ARMYs sitting at the back voiced their agreement when I stood up and voicied my sentiments. They made jokes about how we may not want to go home if it was longer.
Hesitantly, I stood up and waved goodbye to the other ARMYs in the cinema.
I was in the lobby when someone called my name. I turned around to gaze at the faces of two of my previous students in college.
“Ma’am, you’re an ARMY?” Gemma, the pretty young lady, exclaimed.
“Yes, I am,” I replied elatedly as we held hands.
Her beaming face showed her pleasant surprise.
“My grandkid introduced me to BTS. I was always teasing her for buying their pictures saying they were just ordinary boys. But when she said that they won a Billboard award, I became curious and researched.”
“And you fell into the BTS rabbit hole,” Gemma continued.
“Yes, when I watched RM speak at the UN and learned the meaning of their songs, I binged watch and became an ARMY.”
You may want to know the details of how I became an ARMY in this post.
She informed me that she had been attending BTS concerts in the US and Singapore.
“Next time, we can go together,” I suggested.
“Yes, Yes, Ma’am, we can do that,” I can see her face suffused with joy.
We updated each other with the latest happenings, exchanged numbers, and promised to keep in touch.
N.B.
Gemma, I look forward to this.
I’m lost for words, hence, let me share some pics instead.
Thus, we went home happy and contented with the events of the day.
Agust D-Day Tour FINAL is a must-watch for ARMY. I am glad I was able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.
To Suga – you’re truly a genius!
May you continue to prosper in your profession.
