Filipino Skater, Michael Martinez has won the Gold in Triglav Trophy Competition in Slovenia. Although he was the youngest, he bested other ice skaters from Japan and other countries to romp away with the top prize. It was no surprise because Michael topped the qualifying round before the main competition.

Keiji Tanaka and Ryuju Hino of Japan were second and third respectively.

On his Official Facebook page, he revealed:

“I Thank God for this blessing- another gold medal in senior event. It was actually difficult for all of us because the 30 minutes practice sessions were scheduled a day before, and no more practices during the competition days. I’m very happy i made it to first place.”

His coach has gifted him with a trip to Paris.

Despite the fact that he was still recovering from injuries after the Winter Olympics in Sochi, he was able to perform brilliantly.

Pinoys, who tagged him an ‘ice hero”, are hopeful he would earn a medal next Winter Olympics.
