ANGELES, Pampanga – Now, it will become a reality – a free Wi-Fi for Angelenos! Finally, Mayor Ed Pamintuan is set to sign a formal agreement with Dennis Anthony Uy, the Chief Executive Officer of Converge ICT Solutions for a free Wi-fi access in selected Hotspots in the city.

“Posing for posterity..WIFI FREE ANGELES CITY to start in 10 selected areas increasing as we progress in determining where we feel are beneficial to the Ageleños Business and Commerce.YES WE CAN ! KAYA NATIN YAN ! AGYU TAMU! Thank you converge who powered this project.”
The mayor stated that the free Wi-Fi access will boost the city’s economy and will help tourists, students and overseas workers to communicate effectively and to maximize the use of the Internet to stay connected. Hence, the name of the project is “Angeles City ConnectED.” Reportedly, Angeles is the first city outside of Metro Manila to offer free Wi-Fi services.
Mayor Pamintuan revealed the 10 selected Hotspots:
1. City Hall
2. Outside City Hall 2 access points
3. Jenra
4. Plaza Anghel
5. El Potro, Balibago
6. New Street, Balibago
7. Saver’s Mall
8. PAGCOR
9. Didi’s Pizza
10. Marquee Terminal
Anyone (around 450 simultaneous users) can access the Wi-Fi, if he’s within 300 meters from the Hotspot. The Wi-Fi has a bandwidth of 100 megabytes per second (mbps).
It’s more than anyone can ask for considering the slow Internet connections that primary Internet service providers offer their clients.
A plan of future expansion will include areas near schools such as,
• Holy Angel University
• Angeles University Foundation,
• Department of Education District Office, Pulungbulu
