MANILA, Philippines – Darren Espanto, the first runner-up of the Kids’ Voice PH, sang “Tell the World of His Love” during the Pope’s Youth Encounter in UST on January 18, 2015.
Darren Espanto expressed his gratitude and happiness for being selected as one of the performers during Pope Francis’ visit. He stated that it was an honor singing for the Pope because he felt he was singing for God.
Espanto’s version of “Tell the World of His Love” is one of the best interpretations of the song – ever. His voice was crisp as morning air, and as crystal clear as sparkling water. He hit the high notes perfectly and his wonderful voice reverberated amidst the crowd of thousands of people at the UST grounds.
As he sang, Pope Francis and the children on stage swayed and sang along, while the throng of young people did the same. It was one heartwarming memorable moment.
The Pope left a message to the Filipino youth: “Think well, feel well, do well,” and for Darren Espanto, he sees the Pope as a symbol of kindness and humility.
Darren Espanto is the most popular among the Top 5 Voice Kids PH finalists, and his rendition of this song during the Pope’s visit is a testimony of how far he has achieved as a singer after the contest.
