Brandon Rios cried during an interview, and said that he let his team down.
The Manny Pacquiao vs Brandon Rios fight was held in the Clash of Cotai in Macau, China on November 23, 2013, where Pacquiao won by unanimous decision.
When Rios revealed, “I bring my heart out. He never hurt me.” (referring to Pacquiao.)
The reporter countered:
“And Manny knows that. In the interview after the fight, he said “he was so tough. I hit him with everything that I had, but he just won’t go down. He gave you a lot of credit… ”
Rios started to cry at this point of the interview, stating that it was the speed, and that it hurts deep down inside. He walked away from the camera as his voice started to break; he tried hard to control his tears. After a few seconds, he walked back and said:
“It hurts so bad because I’ve worked my ass off so hard, 5 months in the gym, train, train, train…”
“You learn from your mistakes and I’ll come stronger. I’ll bounce back.”
The reporter pointed out that he lost to Manny Pacquiao, and not to anyone else:
The reporter asked if Rios thinks that Manny Pacquiao is still one of the best pound for pound boxers.
Rios:
“Yeah, he’s still out there.”
“I think it’s just the speed, man, very fast, very awkward. I think that was what did it, but other than that… I don’t know man.”
“I let my team down because I’ve tried. We were so confident. We worked so hard…that’s why it hurts.”
