American Idol, the TV reality singing competition, that produced great singers namely Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips, tops the Search for Yahoo Top 10 TV Show Searches. The Voice, another singing competition came in 7th.

Jessica Sanchez, American Idol season 11 runner-up, ended up No. 7 in Top Searched Reality TV Stars in 2012 on Yahoo, as well.
Jennifer Lopez, previous American Idol judge, landed at No. 4 for Female Celebrities, outranking Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart. Kim Kardashian was No. 1, Kate Upton 2nd, and Lindsay Lohan 3rd.
Dancing with the Stars came in second, and The Young and the Restless, 3rd. American Idol has decreased significantly in its rating for the past season, and the show was “revamped” with the entry of new three judges, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
Meanwhile, Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips has been reaping success with “Home” and his new album, while runner-up Jessica Sanchez is also on her way to a successful TV appearance on “Glee.”
With the new season scheduled to be aired on January, American Idol bigwigs hope that the show would attract more viewers and revitalize the ratings of the show.
