The 172 X Factor Philippines’ contestants enter Boot Camp, and as Charice said, “The real competition starts right now.”
Last Saturday, July 21, 2012, the 172 contestants, who have been selected from thousands of contenders from all over the Philippines, finally converged in Manila, at the PAGCOR, Grand Casino Filipino.
The X Factor hopefuls are understandably feeling nervous about the whole affair.
“Who deserves the ultimate prize?” X Factor host KC Concepcion asked.
The prize is P4 million worth in cash and prizes, and an exclusive recording contract.
Who would win this highest paycheck in Philippine local TV reality show?
The X Factor contestants are aware of the enormity of Boot Camp. One excited contestant said:
“Boot Camp is no joke. It’s full of good singers.”
The X Factor hopefuls would be given challenges by the judges themselves namely: Charice, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and Pilita Corrales.
In the first challenge, contestants would sing assigned songs in acapella, right that day. They were given the freedom to sing the song, the way they want it, in any key, and in any style.
There were four categories: the girls, the boys, the groups, and those over 25 years old.
For the girls, they would sing, in acapella, the song “Without You” by Usher; for the boys, “Tuwing Umuulan” by Basil Valdez, for the groups, “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga, and then for the over 25 years, “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi.
Charice announced that after Boot Camp, only one half or more than half of the contestants would make it to the next level. That means by the end of the day, 80 contestants or more would be going home.
From this selection, only 20 of the X Factor contestants would proceed to the X Factor Philippines live show.
KC Concepcion, at Boot Camp, aptly said: “only the best of the best will survive.” Who would it be ?
Judge Gary Valenciano asked:
“Sino ang magiging first X Factor winner?” (Who would be the first X Factor winner?)
Would it be KZ Tandingan, John Montera, Ma. Angelica Prado, Osang, TAKEOFF Band, Daddy’s Home, or Heley Vanessa Bayot?
Filipinos await their first X Factor champion.
