The Greatest Summer Song battle is on, and Journey’s “Stone in Love (Those Summer Nights)” is up against Janis Joplin’s “Summertime” on the Ultimate Classic Rock website.
There are 32 classic rock summertime songs and they’re paired off for the 16 first-round battles until one song is ultimately voted as the Greatest Summer Song.
“Stone in Love” was written by former frontman, Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon, while “Summertime” is one of Janis Joplin’s classic.
Although Steve Perry has quit Journey, “Stone in Love” is still one of Journey’s classic songs, and is now being zealously performed by Arnel Pineda, Journey’s current lead vocals, in almost all of their concerts around the world. At present, the band is on tour in Canada.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock:
“You can vote once per hour in each of the 16 first-round Greatest Summer Song battles until voting closes on July 27 at 11:59PM ET. Your choice for the Greatest Summer Song of all time will be revealed on Aug. 25, 2015.”
