1. Arnel Pineda
Arnel Pineda is the Lead Vocalist of the legendary rock band, Journey, who has sold more than 80 million records, and has captivated audiences from all over the world. The fact that Arnel Pineda came from relative obscurity to international fame makes his rise to fame and glory even more astounding.
He has performed all over the world with Journey, making him the most renowned of all international artists, and has guested in international TV programs namely, Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, NBC Today, and many more.
He has a platinum album, entitled “Revelation,” with the band too, and a documentary film, which is currently showing in theaters in the US, and eventually, around the world.
2. Charice
Charice is second, because of the fact that she was able to showcase the Filipino talent in her performances abroad. Some of her achievements include three guest appearances on the popular musical TV drama, “Glee.” She has a single, “Pyramid”, which became one of the top Billboard songs abroad. “Pyramid” was No. 1 in Yahoo Music videos in 2011. She has performed with famous artists, David Foster, after she guested on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and went on to conquer more international audiences. She performed on stage with famous singers like Celine Dion. Charice was voted also as the Favorite Asian Act – Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2012.
3. Lea Salonga
Lea Salonga became well-known when she performed as Miss Saigon in a stage play produced by Cameron MacKintosh. Some of her achievements include winning the Oscars and other awards on Broadway for her role in Miss Saigon, and went to become a significant name in the entertainment industry abroad, especially in the UK and the US. Lea performed too as Eponine and Fantine in “Les Misérables” on the international stage on Broadway. She was a recipient of the Golden Artist Award from Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) for her international success.
4. Nora Aunor
In the field of acting, no one could beat the one and only Superstar, Nora Aunor. She won several acting awards from International award-giving bodies, and has proven that Pinoy actors are one of the best actors in the world. Her recent film, “Thy Womb,” earned for her raves from the international community, and has been the official entry of the Philippines in Toronto, Poland, Dubai, Brisbane and many more places abroad. Nora Aunor’s role in the film also won for her the Best Actress award from the Asian Film Awards (AFA) during the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Brisbane, and the 69th Venice International Film Festival.
5. Regine Velasquez
Regine Velasquez is popular in Asia that she is tagged Asia’s Songbird. Although, the Filipino community abroad loves her shows, she still has to capture the hearts of other nationalities in Europe and the US. Regine was named the Best-Selling Female Artist of All Time in the Philippines because her albums sold like hotcakes (more than 8 million copies) in the Philippines and Asia.
