Andrea Begley won The Voice UK 2013 Grand Finals this Saturday, June 22, 2013, with show favorite, Leah McFall, not being able to capture the crown.
Andrea Begley has an angelic voice that is unique and powerful. This may have made her win – inevitably – in the end.
The final four contestants; Mike Ward, Leah McFall, Andrea Begley and Matt Henry delivered sterling performances but there should only be one winner, and that is Andrea Begley.
The Voice UK 2013 coaches, namely: Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, Danny O’Donoghue and Jessie James, expressed their intentions of helping out this year’s winner, because last season’s winner, Leanne Mitchell, has not made it big in her career.
Leah McFall has been the favorite for the season, and there were shock expressions among the audience, especially Leah’s fans. She had a head start with her singing career among the other contenders because her version of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” reached the Top 10 hits even before the Grand Finale this Saturday.
Leah would surely have a successful career even without winning The Voice because of her sheer talent.
During the interview after her win, Andrea Begley said herself that she did not believe she would win because she was up against talented singers. Her coach Danny O’Donoghue was somewhat teary-eyed, stating that her win would serve as an inspiration to him and to a lot of people in the UK that dreams do come true.
The Voice UK finalists performed one cover song, one with their coaches, one of their favorite performances of the season. The four judges-coaches performed together too, to the delight of the audience.
Here are the songs the finalists sang:
Leah McFall:
Cover song- I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston
With Coach Will.i.am – ‘Bang Bang’ by Will.i.am
Favorite of song the season – ‘Loving You’ by Minnie Ripperton
Andrea Begley:
Cover song – ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence
With Coach Danny O’Donoghue – ‘Hall Of Fame’ by The Script
Favorite song of the season – ‘Angel’ by Sarah McLachlan
Mike Ward:
Cover song – ‘‘Suspicious Minds’ by Elvis Presley
With Coach Tom Jones – ‘Green Green Grass of Home’ by Tom Jones
Favorite song of the season – ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ by Keith Whitley
Matt Henry:
Cover song – ‘Babylon’ by David Gray
With Coach Jessie James – ‘Never Too Much’ by Luther Vandross
Favorite song of the season – ‘Trouble’ by Ray Lamontagne
Hopefully, The Voice UK 2013 winner, Andrea Begley would succeed in her singing career and be one among the winners of reality singing competitions who made it big in the music industry, such as X Factor’s UK winner, James Arthur, and American Idol winners, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Phillip Phillips.
