Taken 2, Starring Liam Neeson, is No. 1 in its U.S. and Canadian Debut, and is Drawing Huge Crowds Worldwide

“Taken 2,” starring Irish actor Liam Neeson, is No. 1 again in its U.S. and Canadian debut grossing around $86.8 million.

According to various international entertainment sites, even its worldwide showing brought in around $220 million within the weekend.

Taken 2” has beaten Ben Affleck’s most talked about hostage taking theme, “Argo” which grossed around $20 million within the weekend.

Taken 2” stars its original cast: Liam Neeson as a retired CIA agent, Bryan Mills; Maggie Grace as his daughter, Kim; and Famke Janssen as his wife, Lenore. The plot started from the end of the story of “Taken 1,” when Bryan killed the kidnappers of his daughter.

In “Taken 2”, the father of the killed hostage-taker kidnapped Bryan and his family – who is vacationing in Istanbul – to extract revenge.

“Taken 2” is an-action-packed adventure from start to finish, with spectacular landscapes and breathtaking rides. The thriller is directed by Olivier Megaton and written by Robert Mark Kamen and Luc Besson, and distributed by News Corp’s 20th Century Fox studio.
