It’s official, Mariah Carey is an American Idol Judge for season 12. Finally, the rumors that Mariah Carey is considered as one of the American Idol judges for season 12, has become official when the 42 year old singing superstar has confirmed through a phone call that:
“I am so excited to be joining Idol. I wish I could have been there myself to tell you but this all kind of just happened. I can’t wait to get started.”
Reportedly, this happened when Kevin Reilly, FOX’s VIP, called up Mariah Carey during a conference with TV critics to confirm the news.
Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez left American Idol to concentrate on their singing careers. Their departure left fans and critics coming up with candidates like Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert, and Nicki Minaj. Even Aretha Franklin and Charlie Sheen expressed their interest to be on the American Idol reality show.
Jennifer Lopez, previous American Idol judge, welcomed Mariah Carey with a piece of advice: “Just enjoy the journey.”
Jennifer stated that she has been there to help the contestants; that the show wasn’t about her, but was about the contestants, and that made it easier for her to cope with the stress.
Mariah Carey is a HUGE singing star making history with her songs. Her duet with Boyz II Men , “One Sweet Day,” was at number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for the longest time, to date.
Mariah is a recipient of several prestigious singing awards, like the Grammy’s, the World Music Award for Best-Selling Female Artist of the Millennium, and many others.
Hopefully, Mariah Carey’s star would be able to draw more audience to American Idol’s decreasing viewership.
Mariah Carey tweeted:
