Katy Perry’s “Roar” Edges Out Lady Gaga’s “Applause” with More than 12 Million Hits on YouTube

To date, Katy Perry’s “Roar” has edged out Lady Gaga’s “Applause” earning more than 12 million views on YouTube – 12,154,380 – to be exact. Lady Gaga’s “Applause” has 11,963,069 views only.

“Roar” had 200,018 thumbs up and 13,013 thumbs down, while “Applause” has lesser thumbs up – 179,131 and more thumbs down – 23,659.

In the comments portion, “Applause” has more comments though with 151, 210, while Katy Perry’s “Roar” has only 63,474 comments.

The true battle would be on the Billboard Charts. Which among the two songs would top the charts?

According to Billboard, Katy Perry’s “Roar” has debuted at No. 34 on the Nielsen BDS-. “Roar” also debuted at No. 38 on the Adult Pop Songs chart, with predicted downloads of 450,000 by weekend.

On the other hand Lady Gaga’s “Applause” could get from 200,000 to 225,000 downloads this week. It is also expected to top the Billboard charts by August 21.

Both artists have unique voices that their respective fans adore. Lady Gaga made hit songs, such as, “Born This Way and “Bad Romance.” Katy Perry popularized the song “Call Me Maybe” and “Firework.”

The final result of this unofficial competition would be revealed on August 21, 2013 when all data would have been gathered. Who would be the winner? Katy Perry’s “Roar” or Lady Gaga’s “Applause?”
