“So-li jil-leo!” J-Hope shouted on the stage and the stadium broke into a thundering applause for BTS.
I felt my heart do somersaults and I wanted to stand up, jump, and wave my imaginary ARMY bomb. I could feel the intense excitement as the Busan, Yet To Come Concert started with BTS’s opening song, MIC DROP. This is to the amazing accompaniment of a live band – yes, a live band!
I couldn’t stand though as more ARMYs were sitting behind me. They were waving their ARMY bombs and cheering as well, but I restrained myself because as far as I can see, I was only the grey-haired person in the cinema.
Watching BTS perform “Run BTS” on a wide screen was completely different from watching it on YouTube. I didn’t know anything could top that. Their dance moves were perfect and powerful and their vocals were top-notch, considering the precise and complex choreography they were performing.
I was totally enraptured with the power of their stage presence. I whispered to my granddaughter, “No other group could ever perform as they could. Their stage presence is so powerful!”
My grandkid replied: “Yes, Lola, they are.”
My grandkid was the one who introduced me to BTS in 2018, and I eventually fell deep into the BTS rabbit hole. I am even more zealous than her now, always on Twitter to know updates about my adopted 7 grandsons.
And this, BTS Yet To Come in cinemas was my first – ever – BTS full concert!
Previously, we watched “Burn the Stage” but there were only short previews of their actual performances, so, I consider this event my first BTS concert.
As I watch the legendary boys perform on stage, I could just imagine the energy, passion, and hard work they put into each performance. They seemed tireless. They were fired up and the ARMYs in the theater were equally zestful as well.
I did the fan chant with them: “Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!” and cheered before and after each member’s performance. Sometimes, I clapped my hands so loud, I could feel my palms stinging afterward.
One amazing thing I discovered was that they looked even more handsome on a wide screen. All of them looked so good-looking. I often read from fan experiences that they even looked best in real life. How much more good-looking could they get? I could only imagine!
Most of the fellow ARMYs in the cinema were young, and many were giving freebies to everyone. I was given a chocolate bag, photos of the members, and a handmade memento.
A few stared at me, perhaps, sizing me up? I smiled at them, and many smiled back, but I noticed that the older ones were hesitant. The younger ones were more carefree and showed their feelings freely.
In this regard, I would like to take this opportunity to invite older PH ARMYs to join me, so we could establish a club for BTS #DopeOldPeople.
All of the performances were exemplary and I salute our boys. They made me realize I was stanning the right boy band.
We cheered, laughed, shouted, chanted, and enjoyed the concert. It was like a real concert for me. When “Spring Day” was performed, I shouted at the top of my voice. It was my favorite song, and one of the BTS songs that finally pulled me deeper into the rabbit hole.
After the performance, I was the one clapping the loudest and I clapped until the next song came on.
When their closing statements finally came on screen, I felt sad, “what? Is it over?” I asked my grandkid.
Time has passed so swiftly. I wanted more. I wanted more time spent with my adopted grandkids, but sadly, they were now speaking their closing messages to ARMYs.
The cinema was silent as a tomb, when the BTS members were speaking, especially, when JIN’s time came. There was a lump in my throat and I could feel my eyes welling up. I wiped my eyes unashamedly, and I heard sniffles here and there. Perhaps, everyone was tearing up too?
However, the jubilation returned after the members’ “conversation” came with the ending film credits. There were peals of laughter, yells, and cheers once again.
And as expected, BTS thanked ARMY again in the closing credits. They’re so humble and they truly love ARMY.
It was an exhilarating experience!
We also took photos with the members’ stand-in pics at the cinema’s lobby. My bias Jungkook was so tall. I assumed these stand-ins’ heights were derived from real life. Anyway, I took some photos, but they weren’t as clear as I wanted them to be.
As I was leaving the cinema, I felt contented and happy. I can say now that I have attended a BTS Concert.
I told my grandkid that we could attend a live concert in Korea in the near future, when we have saved enough. She was ecstatic with the idea. It’s something we could look forward to.
BTS Yet to Come in Cinemas was absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me!
