The American Idol 2012 Top 7 performances were rated well by the AI 2012 judges on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, as reported by entertainment news sites on the same date.

The Top 7 American Idol 2012 contestants are Jessica Sanchez, Skylar Laine, Colton Dixon, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Elise Testone, and Hollie Cavanagh. The theme for the show was the ‘Songs from this Decade.”  As expected Jessica earned praises from the 3 AI judges, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson. There were no exceptional performances however, for the evening, except that of Joshua Ledet.

Jessica Sanchez sang “Stuttering,” which to other viewers, a song that did not show her mettle as a singing phenomenon that night. The AI judges however gave her praises for her rendition of the song. Colton Dixon sang “Love the Way You Lie” with the usual Colton confidence and style.

Skylar Laine did “Didn’t Know How Much I Loved You” with a guitar and the judges gave good words for her “crazy hot” performance.  Joshua Ledet crooned “Runaway Baby” and he received positive reviews from the judges as well, with Randy Jackson saying it was an “unbelievable performance.”

Hollie Cavanagh was more laid back with her song “Perfect.” Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler said it was not perfect and was somewhat laid but Jennifer Lopez said, “she sang beautifully.”

Phillip Phillips sang “Give A Little More” comfortably but the AI judges did not find a “wow” moment. Elise Testone with “You And I” got positive comments from the judges, with Randy Jackson saying “Elise is back.”

Colton Dixon did a duet with Skylar Laine once more with the song “Don’t You Want to Stay,” while Phillip Phillips and Elise Testone performed “Somebody That I Used to Know.” Once more the duets earned plaudits from the 2 American Idol 2012 judges with only Randy saying Colton and Skylar sounded “pitchy.”

The trio of Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, and Jessica Sanchez of the song “Strongerreportedly started slow but gained momentum at the end.

Only Joshua Ledet earned a standing ovation in the American Idol 2012 Top 7 performance show.
