MANILA, Philippines – Well-known Filipino actor Mark Gil has passed away at the age of 52 on Monday, September 1, 2014. Mark Gil’s manager informed the press of Gil’s death. The cause of death will be announced later, however, some unconfirmed local reports revealed that Gil died of liver cirrhosis.
Mark Gil has been an A-rated bida-kontrabida (hero-villain) in numerous films and TV series. His siblings Cherie Gil and Michael de Mesa are well-known “kontrabidas” too; who would ever forget Cherie’s lines in one of Sharon Cuneta’s film: “You’re nothing but a trying hard copy cat.”
Mark Gil’s mother Rosemarie Gil is a great actress too, and his father Eddie Mesa was a noted singer during his time.
Mark Gil is survived by his wife, Maricar and his children Andi, Ira, Gabby, Timothy Mark Eigenmann (Sid Lucero), and Maxene.
UPDATE: The Eigenmann Family thru Mark Gil’s brother announced officially that the cause of Mark Gil’s death was liver cancer.
