The international Rock Band, Journey, offered condolences to the family of the late “The Sopranos” star, James Gandolfini, who died at the age of 51, while vacationing in Italy. He was supposed to receive the “Taormina City Prize” in Sicily’s Taormina Film Festival.
It can be recalled that the TV series, “The Sopranos”, where James Gandolfini played Tony Soprano, the Mob Boss, was one of the instrumental performances that has revived Journey’s old time song, “Don’t Stop Believin’”.
“Rock of Ages”, a Tom Cruise movie, and Glee have also contributed to the amazing revival of the song, which was recognized as the “Most Downloaded Song in the 20th Century.” It was an exceptional recognition of Journey’s legendary status as one of the iconic rock bands in history.
The song was played as “The Sopranos” TV series ended in 2007, but the positive impact the show and the song left fans is indelible.
On Journey’s Facebook unverified account this was written:
“It’s truly an honor to have been able to share one of the greatest moments ever in TV history with James Gandolfini. He was an amazing actor – taken way too young – and he’ll be missed. Our condolences go out to his family.”
Apparently, Journey’s band members Arnel Pineda, Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo, and Ross Valory “owe” the mob boss a debt of gratitude.
