Pop star and actress, Lindsay Lohan pleaded “not guilty” in a Los Angeles Court yesterday, February 9, 2011. She was charged of stealing a gold necklace studded with semi-precious stones from the Kamofie & Co. jewelry store. According to reports, the jewelry costs $2,500 and was taken on January 22. Surveillance video from the boutique showed the actress wearing the jewelry.
But before the police search her Venice home under a search warrant order, the necklace was returned to the police station. The felony charges are now under the Los Angeles court and if convicted, Lohan has to suffer an imprisonment of up to three years.
Lohan started her career as a fashion model before she entered the movies at the age of 11. Her career came into its peak between 2003 and 2005 with the films, “Freaky Friday”, “Mean Girls” and “Herbie: Fully Loaded”.
The grand theft incident is not the first time that the pop singer and model was involved in a controversial situation. In 2007, her career was interrupted after cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of cocaine. In January this year, she just ended the court-ordered drug rehabilitation and still on a probationary status for her offenses.
Aside from the grand theft controversy, she is also facing possible charges for alleged attack on a worker in Betty Ford Center, her recent rehab center.
