The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recognized Ben Affleck as Best Director and “Argo” as the Best Film in London, this February 2013.
Ben Affleck and “Argo” had a winning streak since the Golden Globe Awards where they both won in the same category. The only “snob” that Ben Affleck “suffered” was in the hands of the Academy, where his talent as a director was not recognized. “Argo”, though, would surely run away with the other awards during the Academy’s awarding night.
Ben Affleck, 40, started to get noticed with “Good Will Hunting,” which he co-wrote and starred on with his friend, Matt Damon, winning an Oscar for screenplay in the process. He went on to be a big-named star with movies, such as “Armageddon,” “Pearl Harbor,” “The Sum of All Fears,” and many more.
Ben Affleck’s directorial acumen is no longer in doubt by film pundits because he has been awarded Best Director by Golden Globe, and now BAFTA. He lost to Daniel Day-Lewis for the Best Actor award in the film, “Lincoln” though.
Affleck won over expert directors, namely; Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino and Michael Haneke. This brings a question to the forefront, ‘what happened at the Oscars?’ But perhaps, Ben would no longer notice because the acclaim for his talent as a director is being broadcast far and wide, even in British soil.
For sure, Ben Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Garner, and his 3 children are ecstatic about his victory and triumph as a director in the movie industry. BAFTA had, once again, proclaimed to the world his ingenuity and excellence.
