MANILA, Philippines – Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano are big-named stars in the entertainment industry, who make news no matter what they do. They are a lovely couple who tied the knot on September 14, 2000. The past few days, though, another name came into the picture – Krista Miller.
This is a fan’s open letter to Sunshine Cruz- Montano and Cesar Montano:
Dear Sunshine and Cesar,
I remember that momentous day when Sunshine was resplendent in her shimmering bridal gown, as she walked towards the altar. I remember you, Cesar, smiling exultantly as you held Sunshine’s hand in a tight grip, and both of your eyes were gleaming with so much love for each other,
I thought, here was a showbiz marriage that was meant to last – forever; that you would set a good example for showbiz couples, that marriages-even for big-named stars in the entertainment industry could last a lifetime.
Your showbiz life went on behind the cameras and you have had three wonderful children Angeline Isabelle, Samantha Angeline and Angel Francheska. I know family life behind the curtain may not have been roses but that’s the reality of life, along with the roses are the thorns. How could you appreciate the roses if you haven’t experienced the thorns?
Cesar, your success in the Philippines’ entertainment industry has already branched out to music as your album; “Subok Lang” was certified Platinum. As a movie actor, you continued to reap the accolades of your colleagues and the international community. You are a multi-awarded actor. You won Best Director and Best Actor in 2004 for “Panaghoy sa Suba.” This movie also won for you Best Actor in the Brussels International Film Festival in the same year. Your recent victory with El Presidente at the 2012 MMFF, and “Never Say Goodbye” with Nora Aunor was no secret.
Behind all of your successes, I’m sure your family was there, your kids, and your wife, Sunshine. No matter how big or small they have contributed to your success, the important thing is that they stood behind you. This is what I could also say when you lost your son, when you lost the political election, and when you were previously rumored with another woman.
Sunshine and your children have always been there to support you. She may have shouted at you, cried, or even hurled hurting words at you, but she still stayed, and that’s the most important thing for a family.
Love is like a plant that should be nurtured by constant concern and renewed commitment. It does not come magically in a silver platter. You have to mend whatever is torn, and fix whatever is starting to decay. This would take a great deal of effort, especially if love has been neglected for so long. But I know the love you felt for each other during your wedding day, the love that brought a lump to your throats and tears in your eyes is still there.
Please forgive each other for whatever is done, and continue reaching out and loving each other. You might not feel the same intensity of feelings like before, but do not misunderstand this as “falling out of love.” Getting used to your better half and becoming less passionate is human nature because of physiological aging, nevertheless, the love is still there, so don’t give up on it.
Trust one another and don’t listen to other people who only mean you harm. Pray too, that you receive the Heavenly Father’s grace and wisdom, so you could survive whatever “storm” that assails your marriage.
I would be overjoyed if I could witness your silver wedding anniversary after 12 more years, and then your golden after another 25 years; your aged, gnarled hands still clinging to each other like there is no tomorrow.
Sunshine and Cesar, here’s a fan wishing you all the best until your renewal of vows at the altar in 2025 and 2050.
With love,
Marjorie
