Phillip Phillips, American Idol Winner 2012, will perform at the Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium in Ohio University (OU) on April 17, 2013. This was announced by the Performing Arts Series of the University, on January 10, 2013.

After Phillip Phillips, 22, won Season 11 of the American Idol Reality TV singing competition, his coronation song made it to Top 1 on iTunes, and remained on the Top 5 songs for an unprecedented 8 weeks. “Home” is a certified double platinum record. “Home” has also made it on almost music charts in the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

His album “The World from the Side of the Moon,” is at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, a feat that no other American Idol alumnus has achieved. Phillips has co-written most of the songs in the album.

Phillips’Home” was also the theme song of the U.S. gymnasts during the London Olympics 2012. It was also featured in Clint Eastwood’s movie “The Trouble with the Curve.”

Starting this month, Phillip Phillips will perform in 10 schools, and would also tour with Matchbox Twenty.

Tickets for the Ohio University concert will be on sale for students on January 15 and to the public on January 16. There would be a limit of 5 tickets per person.
