MANILA, Philippines – Daniel Padilla’s exceptional rise to fame reminds me of the bygone era of Pip or Tirso Cruz III, Christopher “Boyet” De Leon, and of their leading ladies, Nora Aunor, and Vilma Santos.
Daniel Padilla has the same, innocent, boy-next-door charm that Pip and Boyet had, when they were younger. At the age of 17, Daniel is tagged by fans as the local version of “Zayn Malik” or “Justin Bieber.”

Daniel Padilla stars in “Princess and I,” a Filipino TV drama-comedy series, where he plays Gino, and is paired with young actress, Kathryn Bernardo. The TV series gained popularity, second in rankings only to ”Walang Hanggan.” He had been a cast also of “Growing Up” another teen drama series, in which he first teamed up with Kathryn Bernardo.
Daniel is not only an actor but a singer as well, talents he inherited from his singer-actress mom, Karla Estrada, and actor dad, Rommel Padilla. Daniel’s debut album entitled: “Daniel Padilla” has earned the Gold Record Award for selling more than 10,000 copies within a week.
He is also tagged “Crush ng Bayan” because of his cute looks, girls adore him, boys envy him, and even mothers considered him their own kid.
The film industry is the next genre he would be conquering. His future film, “Sisteraka” would be one of the official entries to the forthcoming 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that would be held in December.
He would surely succeed in films as he did on TV, and in the music industry.
Everywhere Daniel Padilla goes, the 17 year-old teen phenomenal star, is met by screaming fans. Entertainment pundits predict that he would be the biggest name to watch in the entertainment industry for the next years to come.
