One Direction Boy Band Wins Big at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards; Chris Brown and Rihanna Win too

The One Direction Boy Band wins big at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. This was disclosed by TVFilm news on the same date.

One Direction won three awards for their song “What Makes You Beautiful.” These are BEST NEW ARTIST,” BEST POP VIDEO, and ”MOST SHARE-WORTHY VIDEO, which was presented by Bing.

One Direction is a U.K. band, which placed 3rd in the 7th season of the U.K. X Factor singing competition. The band previously signed with Simon Cowell’s record label, but is now with Columbia Records. The band is composed of Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.

The Top 10 American Idol finalists also sang One Direction’sWhat Makes You Beautiful,” and  Zayn Malik, one of the band members, had posed for a picture with American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez when they happened to meet during Manny Pacquiao’s fight. The photo circulated at Twitter for quite some time, with fans drawing their own conclusions.

The other big winners in the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are: Chris Brown for BEST MALE VIDEO and BEST CHOREOGRAPHY for “Turn Up the Music,” M.I.A for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY and BEST DIRECTION for “Bad Girls,” Nicki Minaj for BEST FEMALE VIDEO for Starships, and Rihanna for VIDEO OF THE YEAR for “We Found Love.”
