American Idol season 12 is auditioning once again and thousands troop to the audition venues to try their luck. Phillip Phillips, winner of season 11, is an inspiration to hopefuls, that anyone can make it, as long as he has the “It” factor.

The next audition is on June 17, 2012, in Charlotte, NC. If you are interested to be the next American Idol, then here are some pointers, you may want to apply.

Be yourself

That’s what Phillip Phillips did, and look at where he is now- the American Idol champion. Know what music is your genre and perform it well. Don’t select big songs if they’re not your forte. Select a song that you could sing with passion. Phillips also advises would be contestants to stay true to themselves.

Don’t overdress or undress

Dress in a decent and simple manner that would reflect the content of your song. You’re usually given only 22 seconds, so make the most out of it.

Check all the requirements needed

Be sure you have properly registered before the audition day itself. Place all pertinent papers in one folder. You can bring one companion, so you can bring your mom, or your sister. The number of companions could vary.

Relax and just enjoy yourself

Relax and don’t stress yourself out. If you don’t make it, it’s not the end of the world. You can always try next season. You haven’t failed yet, unless you stop trying. So go there and enjoy your performance. If you enjoy your performance, the judges would enjoy it too. If they do, you’re sure to proceed to the next audition.

Believe in yourself

Whatever you do, you have to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, who else would? Runner-up Jessica Sanchez practiced this tenet.

Go, and achieve your dreams of being the next American Idol season 12 winner.
