BTS-Grammys-2022

BTS Butter Performance is The Highest-Ranking Performance of the Night at The 2022 Grammys

BTS won THE NIGHT at the Grammys!

They arrive at the Grammys like the Kings that they are, with elegant, dazzling, and eye-catching Louis Vuitton fashion style.

The audience gave BTS a standing ovation for their performance of Butter, their smash hit. In fact, people were all standing during BTS performance, as if they can’t get enough of it while sitting down.

BTS performance of the top-selling song and Grammy-nominated song, Butter, was a so smooth, flawless, and had every magical, musical ingredient mixed into it.

Billboard ranked BTS performance #1 among all performances that night.

Rolling Stone included only one song from the 2022 Grammy performances and that was BTS’ performance of Butter. Butter was ranked 13th among The 25 Greatest Grammy Performances of All Time.

The dance break of BTS Butter stage has never been performed before, and it displays the young men’s intricate choreo, perfect vocals that do not falter, even while doing those precise dance moves.

Here’s a preview of BTS performance of Butter by Entertainment Tonight. (BigHit or the Recording Academy has not yet uploaded the BTS – Butter official video, so I’m giving you this in the meantime.)

N.B. on Official Video of BTS Butter Grammy Performance

I will download the performance as soon as an official Butter video is uploaded on YouTube.

BTS Butter Grammy performance started with sleek and handsome Jin sitting before a large console, operating how Jungkook could descend to the stage. Jin was still impressive and dominant, even with his fingers on a cast. Jin had surgery the past week.

Perhaps, this was what my previous dream meant?

Jungkook was hovering above the stage, like a black angel, and only started to descend when Jin punched the console.

The other members were seated at the tables of some celebrities, such as Keith Urban and Olivia Rodrigo, the latter was having a tete-a-tete with V until the music started.

BTS proceeded to perform their most riveting rendition of Butter with a brilliant, James Bond-inspired laser and Jacket-twisting breakdance.

Their spectacular dance movements were like precise surgeon-cuts that suited the smooth tempo of Butter. BTS has never performed this special Butter breakdance before.

The audience erupted in applause, they were surely enthralled by the perfect, unfaltering vocals coupled with the complex and excellently executed choreography.

My prediction that BTS will with the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance did not come true and this made me sad. So, I want to state my piece, so that readers who don’t know our septet will come to learn why fans love them so much.

However, BTS has always been positive about their perceived losses in award shows, accepting them graciously and looking forward to how they could do better in the future. They went on Vlive to express this desire.

BTS leader, RM (Kim Namjoon) also said during last year’s Grammy:

“…So please don’t forget that, whether we get the Grammys or not, we already got what we wanted, and we got you, so that means we got everything.”

Nevertheless, for me, they are already working hard, and they don’t need to exert more effort because they are total performers as is. It is the Grammys who will have to broaden their scope of good music and be more updated with current music trends.

I had thought the Grammys will be focusing more on music diversity, but their actions speak the opposite. They only focus on what they think is good by their own standards. They should be receptive and perceptive to the preferences of music listeners and fans from all over the world if they truly want to diversify.

I cannot help but think they are putting some walls against our boys for whatever reasons they have, just like what they did to The Jackson 5, ABBA and other boybands in the past. These great groups were ‘snubbed’ by the Recording Academy. Even the famous British boy band, One Direction, did not even get a single nomination.

I say this because compared to other nominated groups, BTS Butter performance was and is the best. This has been proven by the standing ovation they got after their Grammy performance.

But I’m a BTS’ fan, so I should follow BTS’ example of remaining positive. I will be happy and appreciate what they “won” that night, because of the following:

Why BTS Butter Performance is the Highest-Ranking Performance of 2022 Grammys

BTS is the first Asian artist to perform their own song at the main event of the Grammy stage

• Various music mags have ranked Butter as the #1 Grammy performance of 2022, and is #13 among the Greatest Grammy Performances of All Time

BTS gained new ARMYs for sure

Suga’s ‘prediction’ and BTS’ dream to perform on that particular stage came true

• Being nominated twice is already an achievement that no other K-pop group has achieved

BTS members were able to socially interact with big music stars that no other K-pop group could attain to that level

• They were able to socialize with the big shots in the music industry, such as Lady Gaga, John Legend, his wife and kid, and many more big named celebrities. Kim Taehyung aka V was the social butterfly this time.

* BTS has 4 sold-out nights at the Allegiant Stadium and the MGM Grand (where the Grammy is being held) is only an extension of their face-to-face concert

For these reasons, BTS has already won the Best Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys.
