Skylar Laine

Skylar Laine went first with her song “Don’t You Know How Much I Loved You,”

Randy said: “You’re definitely back…this is so in your wheelhouse. This is your kind of music… “And went on to say that Skylar could be the great country artist that she could definitely be.”

Jennifer said: “You really, really nailed it. You were beautiful up there. You nailed it. It was a perfect way to start the show.”

Steven said: “The crows may crow but the hens deliver the goods. And you got it. I love the way you sing girl, just great…”

Colton Dixon

Colton Dixon sang “Love The Way You Lie” by Skylar Grey and here are some of the judges’ comments:

Jennifer: “How do you feel?”

Colton: “I feel good.”

Jennifer: “You feel good, don’t you? You should, you should. You are able to take the song and make it your own. That’s the mark of a real artist… It’s very Colton when you do it. You made a good job with that one…”

Steven: “…that’s how good you are…This thing is so good…”

Randy: The jacket is crazy…what I love is the subtle performance that you gave to me is really stellar. I love the fact that you started it like a lullaby. I just love your interpretation.  You are an artist…very hot, very hot.”

Jessica Sanchez

Jessica Sanchez performed “Stuttering” by Jazmine Sullivan.

Randy: “A lot of people probably don’t know but I love the arrangement that you made with this song because I know “Stuttering” and the arrangement of this song…What you did tonight is you have set the bar so high, you need to show everyone what kind of talent level that you have that was superb…You did an amazing job on this song, you- to me right now… you slay the biggest fish of the night.  Congratulations.”

Jennifer: “That was really beautiful. And I think my favorite part of it is right in the middle, you started digging…I saw it…You have, probably more than anybody, an amazing opportunity to really take this audience, this American Idol audience on a ride…with a few weeks…we know that you sing like nobody we ever heard sing. I mean that’s how I feel when you sing…there are only a few weeks left.  You can take us on a ride. You can show us something we have never seen.”

Steven: “Every time I hear you sing I forget where I am. America doesn’t forget. You slay it every time. Now you have the nerve to sing that song. You have the nerve to wear Jennifer’s shoes.”

Joshua Ledet

Joshua Ledet sang “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars and earned plaudits anew from the American Idol 2012 judges.

Steven: “You can sell a song like a work of art. Every time you sing a song, you are so good…”

Jennifer: “You have so much control of your voice…it’s just not the vocals, it’s about being a performer. You know when to push and when to stop, and when to pull back.”

Randy: “I don’t even know what to say. You’ve got the looks. You’ve got the vocals. I think we’ve got somebody who really wants it here, Ryan.”

Hollie Cavanagh

Hollie Cavanagh performs “Perfect” by Pink.

Jennifer: “You look beautiful tonight. You sang beautifully tonight. We’ll see how it will pan out. I’m rooting for you.”

Steven: “It wasn’t about being perfect, but for me it wasn’t perfect.”

Randy: “No it wasn’t perfect, but it is so much better than you were last week.” “You can sing. You can hit those big notes. Everything wasn’t spot on, but you sang better than last week.”

Phillip Phillips

Phillip Phillips sang “Give A Little More” by Maroon 5.

Steven: “I really, really love the way you changed like that…like a Steve McQueen and Johnny Cash.”

Jennifer: “For me, it is a little bit underwhelming of the Phillip that we love…It wasn’t everything that you can give…”

Randy: “I’ve got to agree with Jennifer” and went on to say that it was not what he expected …”I don’t know, but it was not that “wow” kind of moment.”

Elise Testone

Elise Testone performs “You and I” by Lady Gaga.

Randy:  “America, Elise is back. She’s back. Listen that was the perfect song for you… You needed a moment and I think…you’ve got one tonight…this is the girl we love.”

Jennifer: “You did exactly what you wanted to do. You let go but you kept control at the same time.”

Steven:  “You took this song. it’s so simple and effortless and you turned it into genius…that was great.”

The American Idol 2012 judges were pleased with her performance.

Elise Testone and Phillip Phillips performed a duet with “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye, and Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine sang “Don’t You Wanna Stay” by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson.
