The Hunger Games

Reportedly, “The Hunger Games” has dominated the U.S. local box office on its third week but “American Reunion” is fast trailing behind, and is expected to be No. 2 when the week ends. James Cameron’s “Titanic” in 3D has been doing well even if people had watched it already. Moviegoers attested that some of the scenes made them feel like they were really there.
That feeling of “being there” was felt especially in the scene when “Rose” played by Kate Winslet, went back for “Jack” played by Leonardo DiCaprio, as the Titanic was already sinking and water was swirling inside the cabins.
On the other hand, “The Hunger Games” is a movie adaptation of “The Hunger Games”, a novel written by Suzanne Collins.
The story revolves around Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence. Katniss and other children ages 12 to 18 were selected from each of the 12 districts around the capitol through a lottery system.
These selected children then trained for combat, and then compete with each other and battle to death, via a televised program, until only one child has survived. Other stars are Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.
The “The Hunger Games” is a “reality TV” program like American Idol, only it is not singing these children are competing for, but for their survival, their lives.
“America Reunion”, on the other hand, is a comedy movie, the fourth series of the original “American Pie” film. It stars Jason Biggs as Jim, Alyson Hannigan as Michelle, Chris Klein as Oz, and Thomas Ian Nicholas as Kevin. It is directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. “American Reunion” is expected to be No. 2 at the Box Office at the end of the week.
