MANILA, Philippines – Once again, Superstar Nora Aunor’s film, “Taklub” (Trap) was selected as one of the 53 films for this prestigious international film Olympics in France.
There were almost 2,000 competing films from all over the world. The updated selection of “Taklub” was revealed by Cannes on its official website for its “un certain regard” section.
The brilliant Brillante Mendoza has directed the film, which is about a survivor during the devastating super storm, Haiyan that killed almost 10,000 people in Tacloban. It’s the 4th time that the talented director’s work was included with other noteworthy films in Cannes.
Brillante is also the only Filipino director to win the Best Director in Cannes for his film “Kinatay” in 2009.
The Superstar’s record is unprecedented in Philippine cinema. She is the only Filipino actress who has won various awards from international award giving bodies from all over the world such as:

These are only three of the numerous awards she received internationally. Her films participated in Venice, Russia, Berlin, San Francisco, and various places. Her recent achievement was the “Lifetime Achievement Award” given by AIFFA, an ASEAN award giving body for outstanding personalities in the film industry. It was the first time a Filipina actress received such award.
In the local arena, she’s the first actress who received two simultaneous Best Actress Awards for two different films.
Superstar Nora Aunor continues to reap awards for the Philippines and she will remain the symbol of excellence and hope for a country that has been struggling with poverty and corruption.
