MANILA, Philippines – Journey’s multi-awarded rock documentary featuring Arnel Pineda will be screened at the Rockwell Center, Makati for the benefit of Haiyan survivors. The film directed by Ramona Diaz, recounts Arnel Pineda’s incredible journey from the slums of Quezon City in the Philippines, to the glitzy, international stage of fame and fortune that is Journey.
The Filipino frontman brought Journey another platinum album with “Revelation”, which debuted No. 5 on the US Billboard Chart, and has entered the Top 100 chart in several countries in Europe. The second album, “Eclipse” has performed commendably too, reaching Top 13 on the US 200 Chart, and entered the Top 40 chart in five countries.
Journey’s single with the same title as the film, “Don’t Stop Believin'”, has been accorded the distinction of being “The Most Downloaded Song” of the 20th Century.”
As Arnel, himself, professes, “It’s a Cinderella story…” and, indeed, it’s a miracle that most people thought would never happen in this highly technical era of the 20th century. The movie is a genuine gem for rock fans, and there are numerous epic scenes that could only be significantly appreciated on the big screen.
The documentary film entitled: “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey,” has been the recipient of various international awards such as, the Palm Springs International Film Festival Audience Award, the Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival Audience Award, and was the Official Selection of the Tribeca Film Festival. Recently, it won, by a landslide, the 2014 PBS Independent Lens Audience Award.
Screening of “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey” will be on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm at the Power Plant Cinema, Rockwell Center, Makati. The tickets/donation is ₱1000 ($23). For tickets call.
