MANILA, Philippines – The Holy Week is observed by the Christian world every year. Catholics observe the following religious activities:

• The Way of the Cross
• The Seven Last Words
• Week of prayer
• Washing of the feet
• Bisita Iglesia ( visiting 7 churches within the week
* Religious Processions
In some parts of Pampanga, crucifixion is sometimes portrayed and done by people who have vowed to do it for a lifetime. There are also overnight vigils where devout Catholics pray in observance of the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Most businesses and offices are also closed during the Holy Week.
Being the only Christian country in Asia, the Philippines is a good place to spend the Holy Week. While the week’s events are observed in mourning, Easter Sunday is a day of joy and celebration of the resurrection of Christ.
