American Idol Judge, Harry Connick Jr. has remembered Journey’s lead vocalist, Arnel Pineda, after Caleb Johnson performed “Pressure and Time.” Caleb rocked the judges and the audience impressively with “Pressure and Time” by the Rival Sons from Long Beach California. The audience and the judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez gave Caleb a standing ovation.
Caleb’s ‘serious vocals’ could be honed to perfection like Arnel Pineda’s powerful voice.
All the judges gave praise to Caleb’s performance, saying he is ready for a rock concert tour. Harry Connick Jr. stated:
“First of all, it’s great to hear some rock and roll on Idol. Second of all, you know how when Journey needed a singer, they got Arnel. Man, if Rival Sons would ever need a singer, you have that gig. You killed it.”
Arnel Pineda’s rag to riches story of coming from a relatively unknown singer in the Philippines to become the lead vocalist of one of the greatest rock bands in history has been the rock film documentary of the century. Arnel was introduced as the lead singer of Journey in 2007, and the band has been performing every year in well attended venues all around the world.
Arnel Pineda and Harry Connick Jr. communicated briefly on Twitter, apparently, having mutual admiration for each other.
Randy Jackson a former member of the band Journey was also shown on air, smiling happily. Hopefully, American Idol’s producer would invite Journey to the show in the future. Would rocker Caleb Johnson be the next American Idol winner? Check back later for updates.
