MANILA, Philippines – Famous authors, Mitch Albom, John Grisham, Suzanne Collins, and other writers had help in rebuilding lives of Typhoon Haiyan survivors in Tacloban. They did this by donating books to libraries in Tacloban and by helping the survivors get back to their feet, anew.
Mitch Albom, author of the #1 New York Times Best Seller, “Tuesdays with Morrie” and the recent Best Seller, “The First Phone Call from Heaven” is presently in the Philippines to personally help in whatever way he can, apparently. He is also on a book signing tour in Manila and Cebu.
On his official Twitter account, he had solicited the help of other authors, tweeting:
“Asking authors 2 help restock libraries w/their books in typhoon-hit Tacloban. Pls RT 2 ur fav authors. They can msg me 4 info.”
Albom appeared as a guest on local TV shows, “State of the Nation” with Jessica Soho, “Bottom Line” with Boy Abunda, to name some, and has been visiting schools to speak before the youth.
Due to his tweet, more writers donated for typhoon Haiyan victims, such as, Khaled Hosseini, Nicholas Sparks, Roy Blount Jr., James McBride, Stephen King and a lot more.
Today, Mitch Albom was at Glorietta Mall for book signing. He tweeted:
MANILA -Got call that there are 1200 people in line at Glorietta already. Some are worried. Don’t worry. I will get to everyone! C U soon.
