“Please pray for #vhongnavarro.”

His TV host partner in “It’s Showtime”, Anne Curtis, could not help but cry on air, and had asked for prayers for Vhong, as well. She posted from her official Twitter account:

Reportedly, Vhong is scheduled to undergo some surgery, after being badly beaten up by 6 men in a condominium in the Fort.  He was invited by a girl to the condominium, reports say.

There is still no news of the arrest of his attackers, and it makes one remember the case of another celebrity in 1967, Maggie dela Riva, whose attackers were promptly apprehended after the actress reported her abduction and rape to the police.

The four wealthy personalities involved in the crime were brought to trial and 3 were executed through electrocution, while one died in prison of drug overdose in 1972. Crimes were solved more promptly and decisively then, unlike today, that rape incidents happen often, but no apparent justice accorded to the victims.

Investigations by concerned authorities of Vhong Navarro’s assailants are still on-going, and hopefully, this grim reality that even celebrities could be attacked, would make them more wary of who they go out with.
