The SAG Awards 2014 is on, this Saturday, January 18, 2014 (EST) and here are some predictions of the winners. Chiwetel Ejiofor is predicted to win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, while Cate Blanchett would win Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Chiwetel Ejiofor of “12 Years a Slave” is a strong contender because of his powerful and riveting performance in the film. The other nominees for the SAG Award are Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Dern, Tom Hanks and Forest Whitaker. Next to Chiwetel is Tom Hanks explosive performance in “Captain Phillips”. Tom Hanks has been “ignored” in other award-giving bodies and it is about time his acting prowess is once more recognized.

For the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, Cate Blanchett has an edge over the rest of the SAG nominees because of her quiet and great role in “Blue Jasmine.” Second to her is Sandra Bullock, who was also spectacular in her role in “Gravity.
