PAMPANGA, Philippines – The whole province of Pampanga has been declared under a state of calamity due to continuous rainfall caused by typhoon “Maring”. This was announced by Joel Mapiles of the Pampanga’s Public Information Office during an interview with DZMM, on August 20, 2013.
Classes in all levels in Pampanga, including Angeles City, Mabalacat City and the City of San Fernando, have been suspended since Monday, August 19. 2013.
The City of San Fernando and nearby towns are areas lower than Angeles City, hence, the concentration of floods are within these places.
Meanwhile, Bataan, Zambales, and Bulacan are still under heavy rainfall too. Tropical storm “Maring” is expected to be outside the Philippines’ area of responsibility on Wednesday afternoon, August 21.
DOST PAGASA has advised the public:
“…to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods. Keep monitoring for updates.”
National private and government establishments have joined together for rescue and relief operations. GMA7 announced its telethon program from its official Twitter account.
“Telethon number is (02) 9811950. Telethon today will start at around 4pm.”
The CSWDO has also informed the public of numbers to be contacted for any concerns, and to keep lines open with their LGUs.
Pinay celebrity, Ann Curtis, has also tweeted from her account how people could help. Aside from Ann, KC Concepcion and a lot more stars are helping out in the rescue and relief operations in Metro Manila and nationwide.
