A Tribute to a Doctor, a Poet, a Blogger and a Friend
Jena Isle | January 13, 2010 | 1:19 pm

Time flies quickly. It was only a year ago when he made his presence known online through questions like, Zorlone Do women get attracted (more) to men with a “BAD BOY” image?

He started his online career by participating in an online forum – MyLot. His questions were funny and witty, and his answers were informative and concise.

It was his short verse:

I write as I think, but I think differently.

I say how I feel, but my thoughts betray me.

I live as I learn form all the things i see.

And I write once again, because I love it.

that made me realize he had more to offer. He moved on to contribute to Helium.com , a writing site, with his varied articles like poems, songs , and health topics. Then he published his first poem online through Gewgaw Writings with – “A Zany Cinquain from Zorlone.”

Dr. Lorenzo Bernardino

Dr. Lorenzo Bernardino

The embers of his passion for writing was gradually turning into a conflagration that was difficult to extinguish , prompting him to create his firs blog at blogspot.com – Zorlone.

Slowly his star started to shine. He was a fast learner and in no time at all, he had learned the intricate ways of blogging to go on and win several contests with his award Reader’s Choice Award and Best Storyteller for his story My blog reconnected me to my lost son.

Readers began to troop to his blog. This post had more or less 90 comments.

He is also a consistent winner of the WOOF contest held by Plotdog.com

And was ranked 4 during the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009.

He got his own site now Zorlone: A Dose of Creative Writing, and got published too in the Inspirational Stories of Bloggers from all Over the World .

He had also his seconds of fame in the boob tube by being the resident Doctor for Channel 2’s primetime TV show - PBB -PINOY BIG BROTHER

He continues to be an inspiration to others, a good doctor, a prolific poet, an uber blogger and a wonderful friend- that’s Dr. Lorenzo Bernardino, for you  AND Doc Zorlone to his online friends.

A Zany Cinquain from Zorlone – A Replay of His First Poems!
Jena Isle | June 17, 2009 | 6:16 am

Oftentimes we come across someone who has real talent and we know in our hearts, we just have to share this with others – with the blogosphere.

And this is one of those instances in which I was so taken by the talent of this young man – LORENZO BERNARDINO a.k.a. ZORLONE - that I decided to blog about it!

To confirm my personal judgment, even the writing community at Helium.com has recognized his talent with his very first article entitled Writing for the Love of Writing , and had ranked him highly. His “Signs Your Wife is Cheating on You” is ranked 1 by Helium writers, and to think he isn’t married yet. Need I say more?

This poem was written by him – impromptu.

Oh, I forgot to mention that he is a practising medical doctor, specializing in internal medicine. Isn’t that amazing? A superb combination : A doctor-cum-poet!

Read his Cinquain and be the judge.

Here’s what he says:

My attempt at cinquain:

Foreplay
Passionate game
Frustrated feelings unfold
Overwhelmingly delightful expression unfulfilled
Foreplay

another one:

Coffee
Warm beverage
Every sip invites
Satisfaction of another company
Coffee

A Blank Verse he composed in high school.

Troubled Grief

P012493-01220128M

As the day stood still, woke up with a chill

And my hands are stiff, this body is adrift

Alone I felt and deep inside I cried

Chains are too tight, such truth I can’t deny

Such pleasure it was when I have found you

Lovely, sweet, unforgettable and true

All those treasured times I know we all had

I never did want to say our goodbyes

I don’t want to leave these friends in my arms

For we are destined to be together

If we separate, there will be no peace

But our hearts will remain in troubled grief.

Julia Ward’s – Poetry Friday

Julia Ward of a Blinding Heart has a recent post of poems from different authors in her blog.

Julia is a great poet herself. She wrote one splendid poem for the post.

I read this from her About me Page and I can’t help but post it here:

Biography (By Julia Ward)

“I found myself alone in an Emergency Room last year. I couldn’t hear the shouting or even my own breathing as they pulled me onto a gurney with cold white sheets. My heart had been stabbed by a screaming white light that tore through me like a lazer. When my heart stopped, all I wanted was to see the dazzling red dragonfly that sat motionless in the palm of my hand so many summers ago.

I live now with a blinding heart, not sure when the jerky, tortured rythm will stop.

Lightning can not kill me.

My soul has been stripped clean of my former self. My soul drifting like a leaf in a dark stream.

I am no longer able to paint. My music is slow and tortured. I thought I could write, just ask the neighbor’s cat.

Perhaps it would be better if you just listened for a while. At least until the storms come and the lightning chases me off the porch.”

Other poems are from:

Francis Scudellari, the poet, writer and the quintessential artist has written one superb poem too. He has a main site FrancisScudellari.com , which features all his creative works. It is one awesome site you would not like to miss. Read his interesting short stories and marvel at his brilliant poems and sketches/drawings.

Zorlone – a new, but fast rising poet and writer has also contributed a number of poems. His poems are highly ranked at Helium.com. He also writes for Triond.com and his blog is gaining readers and visitors at a phenomenal speed (19 followers within a span of less than 3 months). This is because his poems speak from the heart and soul.

And of course, yours truly.
