Katie Couric will host Talk Show after quitting from CBS; this was reported by Entertainment news sites, April 5, 2011.

Couric’s contract with CBS expires June 4 and the question of whether she will renew her contract or not has been left hanging in the air.

Presently according to news reports, she is quitting CBS and plans of putting up a talk show for her ala Oprah format is in the making.

Katie Couric replaced Dan Rather in 2006, to become the first woman in TV news, with her CBS Evening News.

India Wins Over Sri Lanka in Cricket World Cup 2011

India wins against Sri Lanka the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium Mumbai, April 2, Saturday, 9:00 am GMT. This  was disclosed by Sports News Sites, April 2, 2011.

India scored 277-4 against Sri Lanka’s 274-6  beating the latter by 6 wickets. The impressive game was dominated by Mahela Jayawardene and India’s team captain Dhoni. The team captain was instrumental to the triumph of India to capture the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

It is the second time that India won the Cricket World Cup, first in 1983.

The video of two cute babies, who are talking goes viral in YouTube and becomes a YouTube sensation. This was disclosed by various sites March 29, 2011.

The video is of cute twins 18- month old Sam and Ren who “talked” perhaps about their major problems as babies and what would happen to the world when they grow up.

The video, uploaded by their parents has more than 12 million hits to date, and it was only uploaded last February 2011. Ingenious Internet users created their own interpretation of the baby talk and many were hilarious and funny.

Outpouring of love from different countries are reflected through the comments added to the video, while the first official hug of the twins was recorded.

Cricket World Cup 2011 Finals: India vs. Sri Lanka (Live Links)

The Acadecrite Company, a budding company for would be writers, is offering $310 Million tax-free to a professional or amateur writer who can spend a day (24 hours) with Orange Man

Peter Vasvovik a.k.a Orange Man lives in Taloctoc, a far flung village in Tanudan. This International Writing Contest is named “A Day in the Wild with Orange Man.”

The company disclosed the rules of the contest:

1.      Only those who have a passion for writing should apply. All nationalities invited.

2.      The writer should be at least 18-59 yrs. Old.

3.      Only 12 writers will be accepted. Initial screening will be done online with impromptu and brief articles.

4.      If accepted to the magic twelve, writer should bring writing paraphernalia, which could survive the jungle. (waterproof paper, indelible ink. Etc) This is because while the day progresses, an hour by hour collection of write-ups about Orange Man will be required from each writer.

5.      There are no rules for the write-ups. Writers are required to spend the full 24 hours with Orange Man and write a minute by minute story, write-up, briefs, and news written coverage or any article format, about the time spent with him.

6.      A courier will collect the written coverage every hour.

7.      There will be consolation prizes of $10M for every “Hour-Winner.” The writer with the highest accumulated average of all the 24 Phases will win the Jackpot of $310M.

8.      Prizes will be awarded right after the contest.

9.      All writers are invited except relatives up to the second degree of relationship with personnel working for AcadeEcrite Company.

Cincinnati Reds Win over the Milwaukee Brewers

The Cincinnati Reds won over the Milwaukee Brewers as they start to defend their National League (NL) Central title at the Great American Ball Park in the grand start of the National League baseball games 2011. This is according to sports news sites, March 31, 2011.

Ramon Hernandez was one of the major players who have led the Cincinnati Reds a 7-6 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers. With the win the Reds reinstated their place as division champion in the 2010 season. Hopefully the rotation of the team would be better than that of the Atlanta Braves or the Yankees.

The opening game proves to be a superb start for the Cincinnati Reds which is hoping to capture the division title of the National League 2011 and retain the glory of being the champion and eventually win a world series.

MT Board Exams Results March 2011 & Top Performing Schools, Philippines

After three working days from the date of the Licensure Exams for Medical Technologists, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has released the results of the March 2011 exams. According to PRC, 60.67% of the examinees passed the Med.Tech boards, that is, 489 out of 806 examinees.

The Top Performing Schools, with at least 25 examinees and 80 % average are:

Ranked 1 – St. Louis University, Baguio City, 36 out of 36 passed – 100%

Ranked 2- Far Eastern University, Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, 31 out of 32 – 96.88%

Ranked 3 – University of San Agustin, 25 out of 27 – 92.59%

Ranked 4 – University of Santo Tomas, 30 out 0f 37 – 81.08%

Ranked 5 – University of Baguio, 34 out of 42 – 80.95%

The Oathtaking for the newly licensed medical technologists will be held at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel One, Rizal Park, Manila on Sunday April 17, 2011 at 8 am.

Henry Cavill is Superman and Amy Adams is Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel. This was disclosed by entertainment sites, March 27, 2011.

Zack Snyder, director of the up-coming film, said that Adams is good for the part and had expressed satisfaction with his selection. Apparently, he found Adams perfect for the role of Lois Lane.

Adams was an Oscar nominee for Doubt, The Fighter and Junebug. Her other films include Enchanted in 2007, where she won Saturn Award for Best Actress.

She had guest roles in Charmed, Smallville, The West Wing and many more TV series.

The Superman film is scheduled to premiere on December 2012.
